University of Regina men's wrestler
Connor Malloy finished in seventh place at 74 kilograms at the 13th International Junior Champions Tournament over the weekend in Ankara, Turkey.
Malloy won by decision over Ibrahim Koca and by a fall over Muhammet Demir, but lost by decision to Kadir Ozmen to end up with a 2-1 record in the tournament. All three of Malloy's opponents at the event hail from Turkey.

Jasmine Slinn also competed in the tournament, taking the silver medal at 48 kilograms. She advanced to the final before losing to Turkey’s Burcu Kebic to end up in second place in the division.
Both Slinn and Malloy will now travel to Germany. Slinn will compete in the Grand Prix of Germany on May 21 and 22, while Malloy will participate in a camp with the national junior team before returning to Regina on May 25. Malloy will also represent Canada at the Junior World Championships in Hungary in late July.

Dan McGee coached both Slinn and Malloy at the tournament. Both wrestlers will return for their third season of eligibility with the Cougars in 2010-11.
