University of Regina men’s hockey head coach Blaine Sautner announced Thursday that forwards Cody Gross and Lucas Isley and defenceman Jordan Reeve have committed to the Cougars.

Gross played for parts of four seasons in the WHL, playing in 208 career games with Prince Albert, Regina, Red Deer, and Calgary. Last season, he played 16 games for the Calgary Hitmen before being reassigned to the Winnipeg Saints. Gross scored 20 points in 17 games with the Saints before being traded to Melville, where he put up 12 points in 12 regular season games and four goals in four postseason games for the Millionaires.

“Cody put up decent numbers in the WHL and really stepped up late in the season with Melville,” Sautner said. “He’s a real solid two-way player and I expect him to continue developing in both the offensive and defensive aspects of the game.”

Isley suffered a broken arm in October, but returned in time to record 26 points in 24 regular season games with the Bonnyville Pontiacs and had a team-leading seven points in seven playoff games. Isley recorded 152 points in 175 career games with the Pontiacs and had a brief four-game stint with Western Michigan University during the 2008-09 season. He'll have four seasons of CIS eligibility remaining.

“Lucas put up great numbers in Bonnyville and has been a good player there through ,” Sautner said. “He’s got a ton of skill and he’s going to be very effective for us in an offensive role.”

Reeve, a puck-moving defenceman, has spent the past three seasons with the Millionaires. He registered 20 points in 27 regular season games last year and added three points in Melville’s four postseason contests. Reeve had seven goals and 52 assists for 59 points in 119 career games with Melville, despite missing large portions of the last two seasons with spleen and knee injuries.

“Jordan has had some injury problems, but he’s been outstanding for Melville when he’s been in the lineup,” Sautner said. “Besides his offensive ability, he brings a grit level that we need on the back end. We look at him as one of the guys that has the ability to develop very quickly for us and when he catches up, he’s going to be a real good player for us.”

The addition of Gross, Isley, and Reeve brings Sautner’s 2010 recruiting class up to seven.
