Volleyball Canada announced its senior women’s national team rosters on Monday, naming former University of Regina middle blocker
Beth Clark to the ‘B’ team.
Clark will train with the team in Winnipeg until July. The ‘B’ team will compete at the 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China in August of 2011.
“Beth is at the point where she’s ready for the next challenge,” Cougars head coach
Melanie Sanford said. “Obviously it’s a huge honour to be selected to Team Canada and I’m very confident in Beth’s ability to perform at this level and beyond.”
The ‘B’ team will be coached by the University of Winnipeg’s Ken Bentley. Lee Carter (Brandon) and Alain Pelletier (Laval) will serve as Bentley’s assistants.
Clark becomes the first University of Regina product to be named to Team Canada since 2007, when former Cougars Falin Schaefer and Tara Smart were both selected to the national team.
