The CIS announced the rosters for the 8th Annual East West Bowl on Monday, including three University of Regina Rams on the West roster.
Wide receiver
Mark McConkey, quarterback
Marc Mueller, and slotback
Brenden Owens will all play for Team West at the game, which is scheduled for May 8 in London, Ont. and showcases players eligible for the 2011 CFL Draft.
McConkey, who is entering his third year of eligibility after redshirting in 2007, finished second on the Rams last season with 36 receptions and third on the team with 464 receiving yards. A product of Lord Beaverbrook HS in Calgary, McConkey has 64 catches, 802 receiving yards, and three touchdown receptions through his first two seasons at the U of R.
In 2009 – his first season as a starter – Mueller led the conference in completions (176) and passing yards (2308) and was second in Canada West with nine touchdown passes. Mueller, who set a U of R postseason record with 470 passing yards against Saskatchewan in the conference semifinals last year, will be in his fourth season of eligibility in 2010.
Owens led the Rams with five touchdown receptions last season, finished second on the team with 472 receiving yards, and caught 28 passes. Owens, who is entering his fourth year of eligibility after coming to the U of R from O’Neill HS in Regina, has accumulated career totals of 70 catches, 1010 receiving yards, and eight touchdown catches over his first three years with the Rams.
Kickoff for the May 8 affair is scheduled for 1 p.m. (EDT). The game will be hosted by the University of Western Ontario at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
