Beth Clark became the University of Regina’s first women’s volleyball All-Canadian in 20 years on Thursday night as Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced its major individual award winners and All-Canadian teams.

Clark, a fifth-year middle, was named a second-team All-Canadian after leading the Cougars to their first appearance in the national tournament since the 1999-00 season.

“Beth has had an outstanding final season and to have her recognized on the national stage is a testament to the hard work she's put in here," head coach Melanie Sanford. "It's a great honour for Beth and for our program."

Clark, who was named a Canada West first-team all-star last week, led the conference with an average of 4.24 points scored per set, finished second in Canada West in both hitting percentage (.319) and kills (250), and ranked third in the conference with 78 total blocks.

She becomes the only Cougar to be named an All-Canadian besides Joely Christian, who was named a first-team All-Canadian back in 1990.

The Cougars will square off with Laval on Friday afternoon in the first round of the CIS Championship in Edmonton. All tournament matches will be webcast live at www.ssncanada.ca.
