Steven Schneider and Gilbert Musonza both placed first in their weight classes as the University of Regina finished in second at the 2010 Canada West Men’s Wrestling Championship in Calgary.

The Cougars finished with 36 team points, 12 back of first-place Simon Fraser and ten ahead of third-place Saskatchewan.

Schneider finished in first at 54 kilograms, while Musonza won the title at 57.

Four Regina wrestlers won Canada West silver medals, including Kirk Ackerman (61 kg), Gaelan Malloy (68 kg), Jarret Coels (72 kg), and Connor Malloy (76 kg). Fifth-year wrestler Brian Lunde won his first career Canada West medal, taking bronze at 82 kilograms.

All seven Cougar medalists will go on to represent the U of R at the CIS Championships, which will be held in Calgary on March 5 and 6.
