Winnipeg completes weekend sweep with three-set win over Cougars

The University of Regina’s men’s volleyball team lost in three sets to the Winnipeg Wesmen on Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg took the first set by a 25-16 score, then recorded 25-21 and 25-19 wins in the second and third sets to clinch the match.

Marc Ross had a match-high 10 kills for Winnipeg, while Matt Stubler led all players with eight digs.

Mathew Brooks had a team-high eight digs for the Cougars and tied Colin Finch for the team lead with eight kills. Jamie Wilkins led Regina at the net, recording three solo blocks and three assisted blocks.

The Cougars outblocked Winnipeg by a 10-5 margin during the match.

Regina will close out its 2009-10 season with a pair of road matches against Brandon next weekend.
