Huskies score 6-1 win over Cougars

Game Summary

The University of Regina’s women’s hockey team suffered a 6-1 loss to the Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday night at Rutherford Rink in Saskatoon.

Breanne George lit the lamp four times for Saskatchewan, upping her Canada West-leading total to 19 for the season. Chelsea Purcell and Danny Stone also scored for the Huskies.

Kelcie McCutcheon scored Regina’s lone goal of the contest, notching a power play goal early in the third period.

Vanessa Frederick made 16 saves for Saskatchewan in the win. Regina starter Lisa Urban was pulled after the second period in favour of Naticia Leskun, who played the last period between the pipes for the Cougars.

Saskatchewan was 3-for-7 on the power play, while the Cougar scored on one of their four man advantages.

The two teams will meet again in Regina on Sunday night at 7 p.m.
