Spartans defeat Cougars in four sets

The University of Regina’s men’s volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to the Trinity Western Spartans on Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
Trinity Western opened up the match with a 25-14 win in the first set, but the Cougars replied by scoring seven of the last nine points of the second set to take a 26-24 win. The Spartans clinched the match with 25-14 and 25-16 wins in the third and fourth sets.
Josh Doornenbal had a big game for Trinity Western, leading all players in kills (15), hitting percentage (.522), and total blocks (6). Paul Lindemulder (12) and Brad Kufske (11) also broke into double figures in kills for the Spartans, while Ben Ball dished out 54 assists.
Mathew Brooks led the Cougars with seven kills and nine digs.
The Cougars will have next weekend off before returning to the court on Jan. 29 and 30 at home against Calgary.
