Cougars lose in three to No. 5 Trinity Western

The University of Regina’s men’s volleyball team lost in straight sets to the No. 5-ranked Trinity Western Spartans on Friday night in a Canada West match at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
The Spartans opened with a 25-16 victory in the first set and a 25-19 win in the second, and clinched the match with a 25-17 win in the third.
Rudy Verhoeff led Trinity Western with ten kills, while Josh Doornenbal had eight kills and five block assists.
Mathew Brooks led the Cougars in both kills (10) and digs (9).
Trinity Western improves its record to 7-4, while Regina falls to 0-11 on the season.
The two teams will play again on Saturday night in Langley. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST.
