Polischuk also won a silver medal in the long jump with a leap of 5.71 metres.

Caitlin Fowler scored the only other team points of the day for the U of R’s women’s team, finishing in seventh place in the shot put with a toss of 12.49 metres to collect two points for the Cougars.

Justin Baker won the lone medal of the day for the men’s team, securing a bronze medal in the 60-metre hurdles with a time of 8.34 seconds to score six team points for the Cougars. Jeremy Eckert, who was named the CIS Male Rookie of the Year on Thursday, cleared the bar at 2.01 metres in the high jump to claim fourth place in the event and five team points.
