The University of Regina’s track & field teams completed their annual Intrasquad Meet on Saturday at the Regina Fieldhouse, with three Cougars qualifying for the 2010 CIS Championships in Windsor, Ont.
Jeremy Eckert, who was last season’s conference champion in the high jump, hit the national standard in the long jump after a leap of 7.11 metres last Saturday.
Connor MacDonald cleared 2.02 metres in the high jump to place first and hit the CIS standard in the event, while
Les Andersen cleared the bar at 1.93 metres to fall just seven centimetres short of the standard.
Chris Pickering, a transfer from the U of S competing in his first meet with the Cougars, had a fine debut. The second-year thrower hit the CIS standard in the shot put with a throw of 15.48 metres and set a new school record in the weight throw with a toss of 15.23 metres.
The Cougars will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Friendship Games at the Regina Fieldhouse.
