Women's wrestlers enter December break ranked No. 3 in CIS, No. 6 in WCWA

The University of Regina’s women’s wrestling team will enter the December break ranked No. 3 in the CIS and No. 6 in the Women’s College Wrestling Association.

The Cougars have 37 points in the most recent version of the CIS rankings, which were released on Nov. 20. Regina trails Calgary (56 points) and Simon Fraser (51) in the national poll. Hajar Ashtiani is ranked No. 1 at 48 kilograms, while Jasmine Slinn (51 kg) and Lisa McKibben (67 kg) are both ranked No. 2 in their weight classes.

The Cougars rank No. 6 in the WCWA and currently trail Oklahoma City, Cumberlands, Missouri Baptist, Simon Fraser, and Jamestown College in the poll. Annie Quangtakoune is the top-ranked Cougar, as she is currently No. 3 in the 44-kilogram division. Lisa McKibben (67 kg) and Andrea Nillson (72 kg) are both ranked No. 4.

The team will return to action on Jan. 9 at the Golden Bear Invitational in Edmonton.
