Kelly Wiebe finished in third place at the meet and was named the Canada West Male Athlete of the Year and a first-team All-Canadian at the race, while Wyatt Baiton was named the Canada West and CIS Male Rookie of the Year and a second-team All-Canadian. Dale Wig joined Wiebe and Baiton as conference first-team all-stars, while Iain Fyfe was a Canada West second-team all-star. Eric Benjamin battled through a foot injury to finish as the team’s fifth runner. The women’s team was represented by Melissa Petersen and Karissa LePage, who ran as individuals and finished in 77th and 78th place.

Women’s Volleyball (CIS Ranking: No. 4) – Off to a 5-1 start this season, the No. 4-ranked Cougars return to the court this weekend with a pair of matches against No. 5 Alberta (7-1) at the CKHS. The two teams will play on Friday at 6 p.m. and on Saturday following the men’s match at 8 p.m. Following this weekend, the Cougars won’t play another Canada West match until Jan. 8 at home against UBC.

Women’s Hockey – The Cougars (1-4-3) played the No. 4-ranked Manitoba Bisons to a shootout on both Saturday and Sunday in Emerald Park, but lost both of the extra sessions to end up with two points for the weekend. The U of R finishes off its six-game homestand this weekend against Calgary (1-7-0), as the two teams will meet for the first time since February of 2001. Games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Sherwood Ice Sports Centre.

Men’s Volleyball – With both teams coming off of bye weekends, the Cougars (0-6) will host the No. 3-ranked Alberta Golden Bears on Friday and Saturday at the CKHS.
