Elizabeth Hudon’s eighth-minute goal stood up as the lone strike of the match as the Saskatchewan Huskies edged the Regina Cougars by a score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in a Canada West women’s soccer game at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon.

Hudon’s goal came after a pass up the middle from Megan Rowan. Hudon tucked the ball past a sprawling Michelle Anderson to give the Huskies all the offence they would need.

Marissa Wilford made nine saves to preserve the shutout for Saskatchewan. Anderson made 13 saves for the Cougars.

The win improves Saskatchewan’s record to 3-5-1, while the Cougars fall to 1-8-0.

The Cougars will finish off their two-match road swing with a game at Alberta (5-2-2) on Sunday afternoon.
