Duarte scores three top-15 finishes at CIS

Linda Duarte was the top scorer for the University of Regina’s swimming teams at the 2008 CIS Championships in Vancouver, securing top-15 finishes in three butterfly events.

Duarte’s top finish was in the 50-metre butterfly, where she placed 11th with a time of 28.77 seconds to score six team points. She scored five points with a 12th-place finish in the 200-metre butterfly (2:20.59) and two more with a 15th-place finish in the 100-metre butterfly (1:04.64).

The Cougars’ only swimmer on the women’s side, Duarte scored a total of 13 points during the meet to give the U of R a 17th-place finish at the meet.

Andrew Malawski was Regina’s lone swimmer on the men’s side. His best finish was in the 50-metre breaststroke, as he placed 15th with a time of 30.49 seconds in the event and scored two team points.

Malawski also swam in the 100- and 200-metre breaststrokes and the 50-metre butterfly.
