The University of Regina's Tait Nystuen (pictured) blew away the field in the 400-metre hurdles at the Canadian Junior Championships in Moncton on Sunday, winning the event in a time of 51.79 seconds. Nystuen’s time sets a provincial record and qualifies him for the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships.

University of Regina athletic director Dick White announced Thursday that Bruce McCannel has been named the permanent head coach of the school’s track & field and cross country programs. McCannel, who has held the position on an interim basis since last May, guided the Cougars to two conference championships in his first season.
