Western Cycle Source for Sports Athlete of the Week
Nicole Breker
Track and Field
Nicole Breker is this week’s Western Cycle Source for Sports U of R Female Athlete of the Week after hitting the CIS standard in the triple jump on Saturday at the 2010 Bison Classic. Breker jumped 11.7 metres in the event, finishing in second place and clinching the third-year athlete a berth in the triple jump at the national meet for the third consecutive year. She also recorded a third-place finish in the 60-metre hurdles on Saturday, finishing in 9.07 seconds. Breker will receive a Cougar hoodie from Western Cycle Source for Sports for winning the award.
Kris Heshka
Men's Basketball
Kris Heshka is this week's Western Cycle Source for Sports U of R Male Athlete of the Week after piling up 42 points in the Cougars’ two wins over Winnipeg. Heshka had 20 points and 14 rebounds in the team’s 94-86 win over the Wesmen on Friday, and added 22 points in a 98-79 win on Saturday night. Heshka and the Cougars will be back in action this weekend against Saskatchewan, with Regina needing a two-game sweep to secure a home date for the first round of the playoffs. Heshka will receive a Cougar hoodie from Western Cycle Source for Sports for winning the award.
